Philippine Self Help Programs (Manila)

In an effort to reach out internationally to those who need support, Catholic Social Services operates several self-help projects for families and individuals living in the squatter areas of Manila (Philippines). Through these projects, families and individuals are able to improve their financial means and gain access to educational and health facilities.

Some of the programs in Manila have an educational focus - teaching parenting and basic life skills. Other programs enhance the personal dignity and initiative of family members by providing jobs while also developing greater financial independence. The Agency also operates a pre-school readiness program.

Donations designated to this project are vital to its continued operation and are matched by a grant from the International Development Program of the Wild Rose Foundation.

This program does NOT receive funding through Catholic Social Services' annual Sign of Hope fundraising campaign.

Monsignor Irwin International Development Fund

Established by Founder of Catholic Social Services, the late Monsignor Bill Irwin, this Fund offers a one-time grant to help a group of people in need improve the quality of their life, maximize potential and gain a greater sense of wellbeing and independence.
