Client Testimonials
Ellen is a volunteer mentor who has worked with a Step By Step mother, May, for the past nine months. This is Ellen’s story about working with May.

“May is a charming, positive, and motivated young mother. She has three pre-schoolers: Mel is 5, Jean is 4, and Clay is 13 months. May doesn’t let her FASD disability stand in her way and she keeps going even when things are rough. She graduated grade 12 after Mel was born.
May embraces challenges and her exuberance is uplifting. She has a full-time job at McDonald’s and then comes home to her other full-time job – solo parenting. She manages to keep her home clean and her children happy. May works hard and teaches her youngsters the importance of loving the Lord with all your heart.
When I first met May, she was looking for someone to help and support her in improving her homemaking skills. May has a great understanding of what a happy home is and she works at it everyday. She has challenged me to teach her gardening, canning, sewing, and time management skills for a well-balanced lifestyle.”
