Supported Independent Living Program for Adults with Developmental Disabilities
This program provides outreach support to adults with developmental disabilities who are living in the community. Based on the individual's life goals and their abilities and desires, supports are provided by a Community Disability Counsellor to assist the individual to develop and/or enhance their life skills. This may include areas such as banking and budgeting, grocery and personal shopping, health and safety, coordination of social and recreation activities, volunteer and employment options, and securing living arrangements. Social and emotional support, problem solving, and crisis intervention are provided as needed.
Am I eligible?
Individuals must be at least 18 years old with a mild to moderate developmental disability and capable of living independently in the community.
Where is this service provided?
Services are provided in the client’s home or in the community in locations such as vocational placements, medical offices, financial institutions, grocery stores, and community shopping centres.
How much will it cost me?
There is no additional cost for those people who qualify for funding through the Edmonton Community Board for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD).
