This is a full-time position for 37.5 hours per week.
 
Bring your experience and knowledge of the settlement issues of newcomer youth and join the Immigration and Settlement team for them to adjust to school in Canada! As Volunteer Coordinator, you work with schools and community organizations to develop and implement programs which will support newcomer youth at various locations in Edmonton. You will recruit, train and place volunteer mentors in these programs and develop activities and events which engage both the newcomer and mentor youth.  Experience working with volunteers and developing learning programs enables you to support volunteer mentors as they work with youth.  Excellent communication skills are required for maintaining relationships with school staff, community organizations, and our newcomer youth and volunteers.
 
A Degree in Education or Degree/Diploma in Social Services or equivalent combined with 2 years’ experience working with immigrant/refugee youth and volunteers will ensure your success in this position. A valid driver’s license with a vehicle is required. This position requires flexible hours of work with some evenings and Saturdays.
